Default Freecycle

Freecycle is a network of people made up of 4,313 groups with 4,751,000 members across the world. It is becoming more and more popular as people realise the benefits of recycling goods. With the decline of our environment groups like Freecycle are well needed. It’s completely free and helps people recycle their items rather than sending them to a landfill site.

The Freecycle group has groups in local Towns and Cities around the world. You make friends and become part of a community that cares about the world. People who want things can request them and people who are trying to find a home for their used goods can find someone who will love and take care of them.

Freecycle is an excellent way to build community spirit and make friends in the community. Freecycle is easy to use you just need to have an email inbox with Yahoo and then you can receive group emails and send them. Once you have a Yahoo email then you can visit United Kingdom (UK) Freecycle Groups' Homepage and request a membership.

Freecycle is a great site for recycling goods it really works for the greater good of the community. In our society today community spirit is lacking and anything that can get us closer to our neighbours and help the environment has got to be a good thing. Everything about Freecycle is free hence the name FREEcycle. This is not a way of making money because everything you post must be free and you are not allowed to accept anything that you intend to sell. The point of the group is to build community spirit whilst helping landfill sites it is not a way to make an easy buck. Freecycle is a totally non profit concept.

Speaking from personal experience being involved with this group is a real privilege. The group has grown rapidly and works to take care of our environment. Has anyone else joined this group or got any comments to make about Freecycle?

I have been a member of my local freecycle groups for about a year and they are amazing. It has enabled me to recycle all sorts of things that I was sure nobody would want and I have been able to find a number of things that I needed. An added bonus in meeting some very nice people.

I've been an active member and a moderator for several FreeCycle groups & think it's a fabulous idea.

My one reservation is that since FreeCycle became popular, donations in charity shops & other similar places that rely on donations of good for resale have dropped.

I love the option of using Freecycle to not only donate but to find things that I can use that someone is not using anymore and doesn't need.

This sounds like something that I will have to look into. I would really like to be involved in something like this. Where would I find out about this in my community?

I absolutely love the idea of setups like this. I wish there was one in my local area, but I wouldn't know how to even begin going about organizing such a thing.

My husband has just gotten into the Freecycle in our area. So far they haven't had anything we're interested in, but you can believe I'll jump it when they do. My hubby says we have another monitor that isn't being used at the moment, but he says that's the quickest way for our main monitor to break down if we give away the other. However, he's got a whole closet full of old electronics that Freecycle might be able to use...

I just found out there is a local Freecycle here where we live. I am so looking forward to getting involved.

You can put your town and the word freecycle into a google search, or have a look on The Freecycle Network that should lead you to a group in your area. Your local library would probably have information about recycling in your area too.

I just became a member of the Freecycle group in my area. I do believe in trying to use other things and not through stuff out. So, if it is possible and still in good condition, why not freecycle it?
