This is great! I just joined the group in my area as well and am going to try to become more active with the organization. My hat is off to whoever came up with this idea!

I just want to add that now that I have been part of the group for a while, it has served as a gateway for other earth-concious groups and gatherings in the area. I just gave a bunch of stuff a way and it felt great and the people I met were really nice and invited me to a rally in a few weekends! I strongly encourage everyone to do their part in their community - it can make a difference!

This is a good point. My local freecycle group has a cafe group attached where you can discuss all sorts & it's an excellent place to find out about local events and initiatives.

I think being part of the freecycle group has made me think a lot more about recycling generally and this has led me to consider wider environmental issues. I think I am much more aware of the difference between something I need and something I want. I am much more careful about indulging my wants than I was before.
