Default My Recycle Bin

I have now asked our city three times to drop off a new recycle bin (we need another one, and normally they only let 1 house have 1), and its now been 3 weeks without it. Sadly I don't have a garage to store things in, so right now my porch area is being cluttered up. Whats wrong with these lazy people. I want to recycle more, give me the bin!

That is bad!!! Call your local newspaper and tell them what's going on. They might do some research and publish it, and they'll have to answer you!!

Have you thought of dropping by the place they keep them? I find sometimes its a matter of not really remembering or having a place to tote around a recycle bin to bring to you. Or maybe ask one of the neighbors who doesn't recycle much if you can have theirs.

I would definitely try talking to them face-to-face before hitting the press but I wouldn't rule it out. You would think it would be encouraged but cities have limited funds to get such things. Have you thought about purchasing your own?

What about contacting your neighbors? Maybe someone needs another one too and you might purchase one for two houses. I guess there are things that might be done with neighbors without having a big problem.

They dont allow us to use our own, same thing for the normal trash bin. I tried that one year when ours (fairly decent size mind you, but not big enough that year for some reason) was overflowed. They are nice that sometimes if your bin is full you can have a bag of trash next to the bin and they will take it. But you still have to pay an extra trashbin if needed. I think you get your first recycle bin for free, and pay for extras too.

Most neighbors here dont recycle at all, and those that are nice already have one so there is no sharing. The recycle bins are a little bigger than a milk crate, the trash bins are like super huge sized trash can size (like rubber made biggie ones).

I dont get it at all. And I have called them, they said someone will deliver it by Monday (next trash and recycle day), and I would go down there but right now we have 1 working car and not enough extra $ for the trip it would take on the fully other side of town.

I too think that the local paper is the place to be headed with this story if you don't receive your bin on Monday.

Aww, that sucks, but maybe picking it up yourself on one of your outings (don't make a special trip) would be your best bet to get it taken care of.

Until then, is there a town dump where you could take your recycling? That's what my family does at Christmastime when we have the whole extended family there for about a week and there isn't as much garbage pickup... It sucks to have your porch cluttered like that.
