Default Re-useable Items

How hard have you worked to make sure that you home is full of none disposable items? In our house we don't use sandwich bags, plastic storage containers, plastic bottles, paper towels, napkins-not even toilet paper. My own (female) personal hygiene items are cloth, washable, as are our toilet paper replacements-known as family cloth.

I haven't quite managed to do away with all waste, as the foods that I buy are often packaged in something that ends up being thrown away, but I am certainly trying hard to keep it to a minimum.

It's so nice to see another family that does uses bathroom cloth! Though I don't do moon cloth anymore, I use a Diva (less washing, greener living. and less mess). We have a roll of TP in our guest washroom that rarely gets used up.

I have been working to try and make our house as reusable as possible. Right now I cant get the other half to do cloth type bathroom materials but slow and sure he is coming around to other things (hes never recycled before that I'm aware of).

I'll tolerate reusable plastic items in the house, like tupperware. I do try to avoid plastic bags, finding that I can reuse the ones that sneak into the house when I'm not looking if I need one.

I use washable san-pro, washable nappies and washable cloths for baby, but not as a replacement for toilet paper.

We do use plastic bags but we reuse them all the time. We try to avoid paper products in our home and only buy them for emergencies/special occasions. I also use Luna (cups) for my menstrual period and find they work very well.

Wow, that's impressive. I try to keep most things to a minimum, but I haven't quite gone to that extent.

I do store things in plastic sometimes, but not anything that is consumable. I am still trying to find things I can store other things in rather than plastic so anyone with some good tips please let me know.

It is really rather easy to use glass storage for food, or even bamboo or lacquer ware. My personal choice is Anchor ware glass, or pyrex. Glass stores without risk of chemical leaching, and without staining from tomato containing foods.

I just started doing that - I reuse all my glassware and store dry goods and spices in them!

Well, one of my friends is not using toilet paper but just using water to wash off and a small towell to dry. I still want the convenience of TP but I use the recycled type and is not bad.
