Default Tropics species could end up in worse shape than the poles

While the focus recently has been mainly on polar bears and the polar environment, the tropics have also been getting some press attention. In fact, scientists fear the delicate balance and the wildlife there may be affected even worse than in the polar regions.

CNN reports on this.

That's a frightening report to read but at least more attention will be focused on tropical ecosystems as well now. Aside from the significant aspect of disappearing species, upsetting the balance of any biological chain is a scary prospect as well.

Evidently the climate changes will affect the whole world, no matter where we are, we will see the effects. So why not do something, just each of us, to contribute and help the planet? Do it for your kids, make sure they can enjoy a cleaner planet.

You are so right, Berlin. I don't remember who originally said it that is one species dies off that effects the whole world eventually. We have to act now!

This is awful as if enough wildlife isn't at risk anyway. I mean we don't need more extinction. It seems so unfair that poor innocent wildlife should suffer because of the stress we have placed on the earth from our own mistakes.

I seen a program not to long ago on this and I am so glad that it is now getting more attention. It is scary to learn and read about and sadly a lot of people don't realize the extent of the problem.

Actually, people have been acting for years.

Warnings about frogs being mutated started over 5 years ago, and, before the the Reagan administration did away with many of the tax incentives, people were creating solar panels and other energy saving devices. Earth Day has been around for more years than most people know.

Our problems haven't developed overnight, and the solutions have been on the minds of many , older Americans, only to be ignored for petty squabbles between people more concerned about political power than the planet.

Acting now will help, but some of what we are seeing with global warming is the result of the earth's, and sun's, natural cycles. We do need to cut back on what we dump into the environment, but we must also prepare to live with some of the extinctions, rising sea levels, and climate changes that are inevitable.

There is so much happening lately it is hard to keep up. We are definately seeing the changing times. I dread to think what else we are going to see in future years.
