Actually, people have been acting for years.
Warnings about frogs being mutated started over 5 years ago, and, before the the Reagan administration did away with many of the tax incentives, people were creating solar panels and other energy saving devices. Earth Day has been around for more years than most people know.
Our problems haven't developed overnight, and the solutions have been on the minds of many , older Americans, only to be ignored for petty squabbles between people more concerned about political power than the planet.
Acting now will help, but
some of what we are seeing with global warming is the result of the earth's, and sun's, natural cycles. We do need to cut back on what we dump into the environment, but we must also prepare to live with some of the extinctions, rising sea levels, and climate changes that are inevitable.
