10. Another water saving tip! When shaving turn off the running tap! The same goes for brushing your teeth. Basically, if you're doing anything in the bathroom, turn off the tap until you need it!

11. Plastic Bags! They really are as bad as everyone's been telling you. Did you know that plastic bags can cause real problems for recycling machines? Next time you put your plastics in the recycling bin don't put the bag in there too! There are some plastic bag recycling points, check your local supermarket if they still provide plastic bags but they don't belong in the recycle bin.

Bags again! This one is easy, just make sure you always have a cloth bag in your car! If you're like me you tend to forget bags so having some in the car, some in the office and some at home you should be fine!

You can make some fabulous looking cloth bags really easily from patterns on the net with old curtains or bedlinen. If you have a cloth bag or two which you're really proud of, I bet you'll be less likely to forget it!

13. Plan your trips. If you can plan to go to the shops, drop the kids off at school and go to the gym in one trip you'll save petrol!

If you drop an ice cube on the floor or don't finish a glass of water, instead of pouring it down the sink, put it in your plants. They'll enjoy the water and you won't be wasting it.

Turn off lights when leaving a room. There's no reason to leave them on and it's quite common for people to have several lights on in their home when they're only in one room.

It's really great to have someone like you who would post things like this. It is amazing that there are still people who care so much about mother earth. I would definitely wait for more in this thread. Good luck!

When I first read this is misread it as PANTS & was wondering how on earth you'd contribute to saving the planet by poping ice cubes in your pants!

Cheap entertainment I suppose!

Haha, that's definitely not what I was going for!

Next tip: It was mentioned to just leave the car at home or make your trips together, but carpooling should be mentioned, too. Set something up so that a few of you can carpool to work or do a rotation of taking the kids to school. Most of us can't just skip using a car altogether, but cutting down helps a lot.
