All my kitchen greywater is diverted into a large jug which is reused in the garden. I don't use chemicals in the kitchen. I also save all water from baths and showers. I'm hoping to get a proper greywater recycling system set up this year with a pump for moving the water around. At the moment it's me and a bucket!

Talk about recycling, Green-Moo! I had never heard or thought of doing that! Good idea!

Well water redirecting and reuse is a good idea Green-Moo, I do try to use out the water that I use to wash rice or any grains to reuse it for garden, but I do use detergents for washing vessels so I don't redirect that water to the garden.

One of the easiest things you can do is start a compost pile. Then use it later as fertilizer!

A worm bin is also a very effective way of disposing of kitchen waste. You can buy ready made ones, or make your own.

My mom used to keep almost all organic waste: the peelong from potatos, oranges, tomatos, and the rest of fruits to use it as a compost for her flowers in the garden. She shreded everything and then put it on the soil. Her roses were famous!

Can anyone advise me on composting? I live in a mobile home with a small yard. I am interested in starting a compost for my garden. What I am trying to find out is what kind of container do I use, exactly what I can put into it and how long does it have to set for it is usable.

What is this, Green-Moo? And how does it work? I am trying to picture it, but I can't...
