Default Reusable Shopping Totes

I bought a reusable handbasket on a whim (it was purple and $10) and since then have accumulated a pile of reusable shopping bags gotten mostly free from store promotions (including the insulated ones this past week ). I have one store that actually gives you a discount for using the bags, and have contacted my favorite asking them to start doing the same. My favorite part about them is most have square bottoms and are easy to pack more efficiently because of it. I saw Target is selling a similar handbasket (but not in purple) and am thinking of picking up one for a belated gift for my mom. They really are indispensable and work great to carry my purse, coupons, and shopping bags.

I have used reusable bags and a trolley for a long time. I hate the waste of plastic bags-and this state is apparently debating a plastic ban and so all the stores locally are scrambling to sell re-useable to cover customers when they are no longer able to give you plastic.

I noticed just yesterday when I was in Walmart that they had reusable shopping bags for a dollar each. I didn't look at them too closely but they looked as if they were made of black canvas and mesh and were right at the checkout. Whether this is a new policy of theirs I don't know, but it's good to see them at least provide the option. Fifty cents would have been a better price though.

In the UK one of the major spermarkets gives you loyalty points for reusing a bag, whether it be a recycled carrier bag or something else.

It's not allot, but it's a step in the right direction.

These canvas bags are the best. I go to a few trade shows and everyone gives out little "goodies" with their logo on it. Some have gone to passing out these bags so you can carry your trinkets and show their logo at the same time. The last conference I went to I brought 10 of these bags home and we use them all of the time. Definitely better for the environment.

I've been using reusable bags for ages. I bought some from Kroger a year ago, but they are really poor quality, the square bottom ones are really crappy. I have canvas ones that have lasted ages and are great. I recommend those!

My favourite are actually the string cotton bags. Hugely strong-they hold 40lb each (mine at least) and stretch wonderfully to whatever grocery you want to stuff in them.

What's more they store tiny-I stuff them in my coat pocket and can comfortably take two in one pocket.

I'm a big fan of these too, and always keep one in the bottom of my handbag. The disadvantage is that they can get hard to carry when full as they go all misshapen! and of course you need your produce wrapped within otherwise it can poke out of the holes.

While I was living in Europe, I had many reusable bags, b ecause they charged from 0.10 to 0.25 Euros per bag. Everybody had reusable bags! The idea of getting a discount sounds perfect!

In France, you usually get charged for plastic bags: it encourages people to bring their own reusable bag. I always do, unless I'm making a spur of the moment purchase, and then I use the bag as a trash bag: I haven't bought real trash bags in about a year.
