Default Saving Water For Gardening

I am just this year starting to grow my own produce. Not a whole lot this year as it is still new to me, but I want to build up.

We cannot use a hosepipe in this area, nor can we use a water butt. How would you keep the plants alive? Grey water-I don't have a system for that, so how would you manage that without an under the sink system?

One of the things we used to do was close the drain when showering. You can then siphon off the water into a bucket for the garden. Its not quick and easy, but it works.

You have to check community ordinances with grey water anyway. We can't use it where we are because our land slopes to a river and runoff could create problems.

We have barrels under our gutters, though, and use that for watering.

I have done like Purple has, and just recycled shower and bath water.

There are other ways of conserving, like blocking off the drain in your sink as well.

That seems to be about the best thing that I can think of, so give that a try.

We don't have any rivers nearby, however you are right to remind me to check the local ordnances, thank you.

I have seen some pretty fancy grey water systems that filter the water too and hence would make it a lot more suitable for this, but I simply do not have the money.

I always run the water for a minute when I first open the tap to get it clear and to get it warm. I save it in old milk jugs and orange juice containers, so I can water my plants.

Why can't you use a water butt?

Even if you can just recycle some of your grey water into the garden via jugs or something it would be better than nothing.

Your grey water system can be as simple as a hose attached to the kitchen sink outflow pipe going into a container.
