Default Senate Passes Genetic Antidiscrimination Bill

Senate Passes Genetic Antidiscrimination Bill: Scientific American
As a cancer survivor this is something close to my heart. I've yet to read much more on the actual bill and how far reaching it is. I note it doesn't cover people already diagnosed which hoepfully would be covered in the usual employment antidiscrimination laws?

Anyway a good first step.

AS far as I can tell, this bill addresses genetic predispositions, but not information gathered once the disease has developed. Time will tell if this bill actually prevents insurance companies from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions.

When that happens, justice will have been served.

I'm delighted this was passed. When I heard about a genetic screening for the breast cancer gene my first thought was "if you screen positive, you will be dropped". It's hard to be proactive with your health if you are worried about losing your insurance.
