Well, as a famous actor once said, "Do or do not! There is no try" Until the problem is solved we are all going to read reports were studies that tell us doomsday is coming. I, for one, will not believe it until doomsday has arrived. Of course, I may not be alive at that point but I am not going to worry about it. I will do what I can, when I can and if I can to help the environment. That is all that any of us can really do. So just make this your motto, "Do or do not! There is no try!" Then go on with your life.

Of course we should enjoy life, after all the only guarantee we have is now. None of us know the extent of our tomorrow's, it has always been that way. However if we all give up on the future it makes the outcome absolutely certain. We have to try, we cannot possibly know all the developments that the future may hold. We have to do our best and we have to encourage others to try too, but depressing people to this extent will not help, it will make them give up.

Yes, we need to enjoy our life but not at the expense of future generations. As concientious members of society, we may not be able to fix the past but we can make sure that the same mistakes (or worse) don't happen in the future.

I don't think this article is as depressing as it is realistic. It is necessary to strip away all the fluff and indulge in straight talk. This is the only way people realize how serious conditions are.

Extinction is the rule, not the exception.

I think we're all in agreement that we have to try even though it may be too late, for the sake of all our kids and grandkids and "remote posterity" as the Emperor Claudius (compliments of Robert Graves) put it.
