I think you answered your own question, Carl, in your last sentence. That's why they make "dopey" cars or whatever else environmentally friendly. They don't want them to sell well, they want to make the kind of cars they've always made. Reminds me of the McDonald's "veggieburger" they "tried" to market here; it was a bun with limp cooked squash as the filler. Were they ever *surprised* that the "veggieburger" was not a success in the veggie-friendly Northwest. Now Mc Donald's can say they tried to market a veggie-burger but nobody wanted to buy it.
