I have heard criticism of carbon offsets that divert money to tree planting. I can understand if the plan just involves seedlings, since they'll take generations to grow before they can act as good filters, but I don't think we should scrap the plan either. With desertification spreading, more trees would bring many benefits to the soil and air. We should probably diversify our "offset portfolio", shouldn't we?
